Rules to abide by when you keep an active dog in an apartment -

First rule: be serious
Second rule: be extra serious
Third rule: Call him "the Beast".

Since November I've hosted the greatest foster dog. I haven't taken any real pictures of her because running and playing with the dogs is a job on its own - whipping out the DLSR would be too much work. Also it's a white dog and a black dog so ennnh too much work and editting.

So enjoy this simple snap of Sharky and Foster Dog hanging out on the couch between play sessions.

If you could pet them their fur would be full of saliva.

Darcy loves motorcycles.

Darcy doesn't chase skateboards. He ignores bikes. He doesn't even acknowledge smart cars. He is just a kind, steady, easy dog.

Until he hears a motorcycle engine...!

Then he transforms into a wild child and throws all rules out the window.

I don't know if this is correct but I have a mental image of his past owners being bikers that rained salami every time they drove off.

One month later, Darcy's still here!

Darcy likes to trail me. I've gone from room to room calling for Darcy only to discover he was shadowing my butt the entire time.

There's a theory that for all my gripes I'll miss Darcy when he's gone.

He's a great dog but I wish he was home.

A week or two ago we opened the door to our first foster, Darcy! I don't know how to describe him other than he's the perfect roomate. Easy, straightforward, and big sense of humor.

Southern California coast is getting some amazing waves. Darcy and I ran out the door this morning to catch the swell at Huntington Dog Beach and got soaked while playing next to the surf.

He's a good guy and I really wonder who his next family will be.

Thinking about the future... New career.

 Like, blindly-throwing-myself-into-a-void-and-crossing-my-fingers-also-clenching-my-butthole new career.

During these moments of lost identity it helps to have a basketcase dog.

We go for miles and I spend the whole time thinking, "At least something is nuttier than me"

Expand!

Contract!

Sharky is a pufferfish of a dog. It's very convenient because I've been apartment hunting and some landlords have weight restrictions. That's when he transforms from 30lbs to 20lbs...

Sharky is a very medium dog. Many people debate hotly about big dogs vs small dogs while never considering the medium dog.

Living in a small apartment with an active dog...

Overall it's a Sisyphus/boulder situation.

Interesting thing is, the more miles we clock and the more nuanced tricks we do, the more he thinks that level of activity is normal.

This Dog...

Expired Trash Yogurt

Good morning, and welcome to another installment of "Answers To Questions I Never Wanted To Ask."

Today's topic - it's known a little bit of yogurt can help settle a dog's digestive system. But what happens to the canine intestine when one eats half of tub of expired yogurt out of the trash?

Mugshot of offender
I don't have the answer yet but I'll know soon. I will NOT keep you updated. You're welcome.

Thus concludes today's segment of "Answers to Questions I Never Wanted to Ask".

BLEGH!

The world needs a dog

I feel sorry for people who don't have a dog. It must suck.

Could you imagine?! You'd sit on the couch to watch a movie and nobody would beg to hang out on your lap.

*shudders*

So silly but at the end of the day, I'm glad to see Sharky.

B+W Sunday

Today a few strangers came up to pet Sharky and he put on his best manners. I was really proud.
